An automatic and controllable astronomical observatory remotely via the Internet
Who manage the Galatée project?

The A4 was born, "Association des Astronomes Amateurs Automaticiens".

History

In 1993, a handful of students of a Grenoble engineering school creates an association. It is the A4 "Association des Astronomes Amateurs Automaticiens". The objective is already to remotely control a telescope.

Protagonists

With the time, the project took its current form, but it is always A4 which manages this project. A4 is chaired by Guillaume PREVOST and is proposed by Hubert Reeves, astrophysicist and by Jose Mans who also solves all the data-processing problems. The technical college Don Bosco of Marseille is involved in this project since several years. They carry out mechanical elements. The structure of the weather station for example was designed by A4 and entirely realized by the school in Marseille. A group of student and teacher of the school has assembled those parts at the summit of the Cheval Blanc mountain.
